Time to Head Back to SC

Getting home wasn't going to prove to be all that easy for Klaus and the boys.... We were getting Lake Affect Snow warnings all day and as we drew closer to time for them to leave, things didn't sound any better..... As their flight was scheduled to leave by 5:01, we decided we should leave by 3 o'clock to make sure we gave ourselves plenty of time to get there... And as you can see by the clock behind Klaus, we were nearing time to leave as I took these last few photos.... Klaus was warming himself by the fireplace while the boys put final touches on packing their stuff......

The boys were certain that they had eveything packed and nothing was left behind... Having been down this road before, I decided I should do a little checking on my own.... I found Jasonn's sunglasses in his bedroom, and Kyle's hat on the floor in another room as well..... Sure boys... you have every thing packed...... Good thing for you the Nana's on the job.....

Once everything was checked and double checked..... we got it all loaded into the car and headed out to the airport...... Klaus and the boys all excited and looking forward to returning home again....

On the drive to the airport we did run into some heavy snowfall, but also plenty of dry roads in between.... At one point where there was heavy snow fall, we spotted two big rigs that must have collided with each other and were off the side of the road.... Flares were everywhere as well as tow trucks and police.... Glad we missed that one!!! Finally we made it to the airport..... Klaus and the boys unloaded their stuff and then did a check inside to make sure their flight was leaving on time, which they were told it would be......

My two favorite world travelers here..... All excited and looking forward to another flying adventure.... Little did they know what lay ahead.....

Figuring all was well and they'd soon be flying off, Bruce and I decided it was best that we headed home before the weather got any worse and we'd find ourselves stuck spending the night away from home.... So with more hugs, kisses, we said our good-byes once again......

Around 7:10 that same evening, we received a call from Klaus telling us that although they boarded their plane on time... they never took off due to the poor weather conditions.... Needless to say, Klaus was not a happy camper.... But thankfully, Delta Airlines put them and the other passengers up in a hotel room for the night.... and their next flight out would be 6:30 a.m. the next morning.... Unfortunately although the plane did take off, it was 20 minutes late in doing so.... They arrived late for their connecting flight (by 3 minutes) and had to hang around another airport lobby for 1 1/2 hours before they were able to board the next flight out.... They arrived at their home airport around 12 that afternoon... Then still had a 2 hour drive home..... A grand adventure for Jasonn's and Kyle's first round trip flying adventure.....
