It's A Wonderful Life ---- 2007

A tradition continues..... Originally started several years ago with Debbie and her very good friend and neighbor, Jan R and her husband.... Each year around Christmas time, they'd get together at one or the other's homes for dinner and watch the movie, "It's a Wonderful Life".... Several years ago, Jan and her husband, Ray, retired and moved to North Carolina.... Whom then to carry on the tradition with.... Well Bruce and I feel blessed to have that pleasure..... and each year we look forward to that special evening with our dear friends, Vaughn & Debbie... We share a good meal (differs with each year) and then settle in to watch "It's A Wonderful Life".... After the movie.... time for dessert and gift exchange....

" It's a Wonderful Life" is a movie that goes back many years.... Long before I was born even (now that's really going back in time).... The story revolves around George Bailey and his desire, from childhood, to leave his little town of Bedford Falls and experience the great big wonderful world out there.... Unfortunately, for George, his heart is as big as his desire to travel the world and he never really gets to leave Bedford Falls... Instead he remains behind doing all he can to help his family and the community of Bedford Falls.... It all comes down to a point when George decides he's in over his head and calls out to God for help..... but instead of waiting for HIS answer, George decides to take matters into his own hands... That's where Clarence (the wingless angel) comes into the picture, and George gets to see what life would be like for his family and friends, had he never been born.... It's a wonderful movie, and although watched over and over throughout the years, we never tire of it.... I think Debbie and Vaughn know it word for word even....

But before we settle in to watch our movie.... . first things first..... Presents are placed beneath the tree for later........
This year's dinner..... PIZZA.... Yeah... we took the easy way out ... Pizza and Wings... I don't know what we were thinking... There was only the four of us, yet there we were with 3 boxes of pizza, and 4 containers of wings...

After we had eaten, we started our movie, and paused it about mid way through to dish up dessert, which Debbie made..... (A birthday cake for Jesus... another tradition worthy of carrying on).... She decorated the top with bells.... (In memory of Clarence of course).....

Enjoying our dessert.....I was enjoying mine too, but hard to get a picture of myself, and everyone else was too busy eating their cake.....

Once the movie was over, we decided to get out my camera and try out the new tripod Bruce had just bought me .... I wanted to get a group photo of all of us together....As usual, I wasn't quite quick enough the first time out and didn't make it to my spot in time....
But we (I) finally got it figured out (with plenty of help from Bruce) and we had fun playing around with the camera for a bit before we got around to opening our gifts ..... Quite the photogenic group don't you agree.... (smile)....

Vaughn and Bruce helping to line up the camera....

Bruce took this one of me and Deb.....

Then we took turns posing with our sweethearts.....

And of course had to have a group shot in front of the fireplace....

Finally playing around with the camera came to an end, and we turned our focus to opening our gifts .....

Vaughn with some Dunkin' Donut coffee (his favorite coffee).....
And of course a tool for our very own "Tool Man" .....

Had to include this picture.... A man actually reading the directions.... Yes folks, they are out there.....
Bruce got some screw drivers, which he had been complaining he didn't have enough of....

No pictures of me opening my gift from Debbie, but I did get one and I was very pleased with what I got... Thanks Debbie.... I've already worn it a couple of times now and it fits perfectly....

Did you know that according to the story in "It's A Wonderful Life" whenever you hear a bell ring, an angel has just received his/her wings..... And of course by the end of our movie, Clarence, too, received his wings......

A thought to hang onto .....

Bruce and I feel we are blessed with many wonderful friends.... two of which are our dear friends, Vaughn and Debbie... Thanks guys for sharing your "It's A Wonderful Life" evening with us.... We had a wonderful evening as always!!!

Merry Christmas Everyone!!! And don't forget the reason for the season..... Let us all keep Christ in our Christmas!!!

Loved your "dinner and a movie" pics! Nothing better than friends and family. And to think, that Vaughn might not have been here to enjoy this Christmas. God saved his life and answered all your prayers!! So very much to praise God for! Glad you had such a good time.
