My Christmas Cactus

I've had my Christmas Cactus for over 10 years..... She started out as a small plant and over the years has grown into this beautiful plant that just loves to blossom several times a year.... I've been so proud of her..... Unfortunately, the weight of her branches became too much for her and possibly her pot too small..... and every now and then I'd notice a large branch would have fallen off..... I'm talking LARGE.... After nurturing her all these years, I couldn't just let her die, so I contacted one of our local florist shops and asked if they could help me restore her..... The first photo is how she use to look before the branches started dropping off....

This is how she looks today after I had picked her up from the Florist.... Considering how much she was thinning out before, I think they did a wonderful job putting new life into her... Now all I have to do is keep her pinched back on a more regular basis...

I was told it may take her awhile before she'd blossom again.... but I'm not really worried about that right now.... Just glad they were able to restore her ...... Meanwhile, I just keep a good eye on her progress and continue to nurse her along.....

Weekend Visit with Lisa and Ed

Lisa and her boyfriend, Ed, made a trip up to visit with us for the weekend.... They arrived Saturday afternoon and left on Monday morning.... (early).... Although a short visit for sure, I was still so happy to have my daughter here and we managed to pack in a few fun things to do, as well as spend some quiet times just visiting and catching up..... Still.... would have been nice if we could have had more time....

Sitting around the dining room table visiting after morning breakfast.... Discussing our plans for the day....

Family Reunion

Our first stop of the day was at the 77th Family Reunion.... This year held in the Pavillion at Thompson Park.....
It was kind of chilly under the pavillion.... So the guys found us a couple of benches and set them up for us out in the sun..... Much.... much better.....

My cousin, Byron flashing his pearly whites for me.....

Byron's mother in law in the wheel chair, sitting with my Aunt Bet and my cousin Jeanette....

Just love how Byron's mother in law clung to Aunt Bet's hand in such a loving way..... So of course had to get a picture......

Lisa and Ed.......

I think they're laughing at my expense here..... But I chose to ignore them..... Can't help but notice how happy this man makes my daughter too..... Definitely a keeper in my book!!!

Bruce took this photo of Lisa and I......

And of course had to have one taken of me and my man......

Already Bruce and Ed are starting to act alike...... Could be a good thing.... then again... maybe not..... Verdict still out on that one.....LOL .... Did I mention how much we really like this guy??

My cousin, Jeanette, Aunt Bet, and me.... Jeanette and I have this ongoing argument as to which one of us is Aunt Bet's favorite niece.... She thinks it's her.... But I know it's me.....

Lisa won one of the door prizes.... She was all excited until she opened it and couldn't figure out just what it was..... We've since decided it was going to be one of those unwanted Christmas gifts that would get passed back and forth through the years to come..... She left it with me.... so guess it'll be up to me to start the new family tradition....

Poor Bruce was suffering with a bad tooth ache.... Here he sits patiently waiting for me to say my final good-byes to everyone before we headed home.....

Gentleman, Ed, opening the car door for Lisa.... and yes for me too.... He's going to make someone a really good son in law some day.....

Now off for short stop at the house so Bruce could take some pain pills for his tooth..... Then heading on out to Sackets and Piller Point....

Visiting Sackets Harbor

Back at the house before heading out to Sackets and Piller Point....

Lisa took a little nap..... and of course..... I was busy downloading pictures of the reunion on the computer and taking more.... LOL.... shhhh.... Don't tell Lisa I posted this one.... Definitely not one of her favorites...LOL....

Then off to Sackets so Ed could get a good view of the Lake..... He was amazed at the size and beauty of it... Something I think those of us who live here all our lives may take for granted....

Lisa and Ed relaxing under a shade tree, and of course Momma always ready with camera in hand snapping pictures all along the way..... Believe me.... You're getting the condensed version...
There's a rumor going around that it won't be long before I'll be getting a phone call from Ed, asking for my daughter's hand in marriage.... Bruce and I just love him, so no guessing what my answer will be.....

Because we aren't able to get together as often as we'd like, I couldn't resist taking as many pictures as I could of my beautiful daughter.....

It was so peaceful and relaxing as we walked along.... stopping every now and then to gaze out over the lake.... Isn't it just beautiful how the sun glistens off the water....

We got Lisa to snap this picture of the two of us.... Just so you'll know I was there too.....

From Sackets we headed out to Piller Point so Lisa could show Ed our old farm and the house we use to live in out there.... From the shore line we could look back out over the lake and see where we had been only a few minutes before while in Sackets....

Stopping at Koolers for Ice Cream

On our way home, we stopped off at Koolers for some ice cream.... After ordering regular soft ice cream, we then realized they had soft CUSTARD!!! So we all ended up reordering... Bet that little waitress just loved us!!!

Ed still trying to figure out what he wants....lol (Not really sure what he was thinking here, but after looking at the pictures later, we kept coming up with cute one liners to fit this photo)...... Might be fun to see what one liners anyone reading this might come up with if you feel like sharing.... I'll pass them on to Lisa and Ed....

Once we got home, we spent a quiet evening relaxing..... then off to bed early... Bruce of course having to be up at 3 a.m., and Lisa and Ed wanted to be up and headed home by 6 a.m., which they did leave by 6:15.... They arrived home around 1 p.m..... Safe and Sound... It was such a nice visit and way too short..... It was good spending time with my daughter and having the chance to get to know my future son in law better..... It's definitely all thumbs up for Ed!!! And oh yeah.... As Ed was giving me a hug good-bye, he whispered in my hear that I'd be getting a call from him soon...... Does anyone else hear wedding bells out there?? I know I do....
